White Wave, Crackington Haven by Lawrence Dyer

White Wave, Crackington Haven

‘Crackington Haven: White Wave’ is a limited edition art print produced on archival quality art paper and set in an off-white mount. It is a print of an oil painting by Lawrence Dyer and hand-signed and individually numbered by the artist.

Crackington Haven in North Cornwall is one of my regular places to paint and photograph the sea and cliffs — I always feel at ease there and at one with nature. Perhaps this is because of the wild nature of this lovely Cornish cove, its rugged, picturesque rocks and cliffs. The waves always seem special there too, and in this oil painting I have depicted a frothy white wave breaking. It is a fairly calm day in the painting, the waves are spaced wide apart and only one comes slowly rolling in at a time. It is, in short, one of those calm summer days when the sea is vividly blue and so inviting and you can relax and just watch the sea.

Behind the sea are the magnificent cliffs known as Cambeak, almost pyramidal cliffs due to the unusual geology of this part of the coast; the larger of the two ‘pyramids’ is Big Cam. It’s a place to linger, to wander about the vividly populated rock pools when the tide is out, to sit back and listen to the crshing of the surf on the shore when the tide is in.

The edition of this print is limited to 300 pieces. Each one is mounted, signed and individually numbered by Lawrence Dyer.
