Limited Edition Prints

The prints for sale on this site are all limited edition prints. This means that only a specific number will ever be produced. In most cases this will be 195 although in a few cases the run will be higher.

What are Limited Edition Prints?

Apart from the limited number produced, limited edition prints also differ from ‘open edition’ prints in that each one is individually numbered by the artist in pencil. The artist also hand-wrtes the title of the artwork and signs each one. These three editions to the print appear in a strip along the bottom of the image.

Why Have Limited Edition Prints?

In short, in buying a limited edition print you are getting something that is much rarer than an open edition print. Once the edition limit has been reached then no more prints of the image will be made, so you will have something with a degree of exclusivity about it. Usually  limited edition prints are more valuable than other prints.

Production Standards

All of our limited edition prints are made by Southgate Studios of Launceston, Cornwall. They are giclee prints, produced on high quality archival paper and mounted in a slightly off-white mount to produce a high quality item that will last. They are ready for you to frame, as frame style is a personal choice, and in any case it is inadvisable to send glass through the post. By special arrangement we can provide framed prints using clear perspex as a glass substitute. Please contact us for more about  this option.

Sizes

How big are the prints? This will vary a little with the shape of the artwork/ image. But a typical print is as follows:

Image size: approx 340 mm x 200 mm.   Mount size:  approx 457 mm x 343 mm ( 18 x 13 1/2 inches ).

Widths stay the same, but depths (top to bottom) may vary depending on the proportions of the original artwork – a squarer shaped print will be deeper, as will its mount.
